According to the statutory requirements the purpose of the Red Crescent Society of Uzbekistan is to assist the State and its authorities to solve major social problems, implement charitable and humanitarian mission for citizens who need help, and to provide medical and social assistance to the most vulnerable population.
According to the Charter the supreme body of the Red Crescent Society of Uzbekistan is Kurultay (Congress), which was held on October 30, 2015.
Mr. Khamid Y.Karimov was elected as the Chairman.
Ms.Elvira A. Amiralieva was approved to the position of the Executive Director.
Red Crescent Society of Uzbekistan and its place in public life of the country
"The Society follows the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the laws of the country, the fundamental principles of the International Movement of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the Charter of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the Charter of Red Crescent Society of Uzbekistan.
Using local resources and the support of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the ICRC, the National Societies of other donor countries, the Society implements the following programs: training how to respond in case of emergencies and provide humanitarian assistance, healthy lifestyle promotion, disease prevention and training to first aid dressing, health and social care at home and in health and social centers, meeting the needs of separated families, informing on and dissemination of international humanitarian law, the development of the youth movement and engagement of volunteers, organizational development.
Red Crescent Society of Uzbekistan seeks to upgrade the strategy of its business focusing mainly on capacity building and organizational development.
The Strategic Development Plan of the Red Crescent Society of Uzbekistan for 2011-2015 is a logical continuation of the ongoing plans and is oriented to further strengthening the capacity and organizational development of the Society, as well as to achieving a high efficiency in reducing the vulnerability of the population.
Work harder, better and covering larger scope when approaching 2020 year
The purpose of the Red Crescent Society of Uzbekistan is to be strong and well-functioning Society, able to support its business. The Society aims to work harder, better and covering larger scope.
Kurultay XX adopted a new edition of the Charter of the Red Crescent Society of Uzbekistan, which has been developed in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan and international standards, the requirements of the Charter of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
The Charter of the Red Crescent Society of Uzbekistan was registered by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan on December 30, 2010.
According to the 5-score marking system the Committee of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies assumes that the current Charter of the Red Crescent Society of Uzbekistan meets the requirements of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
Companies of the Society are executing a new edition of the Charter now. A new structure of Management and Executive branches of the Society has been formed. The work of the Presidium and regional organizations became more specific for vulnerable groups of the population. Ongoing projects and programs in addition to a humanitarian assistance include the tasks for the Society development.
Financial receipts include membership fees, charitable donations of individuals and legal entities.
Development of human resources of companies of the Red Crescent Society of Uzbekistan
According to the requirements of the XXth Qurultay of the Society to develop human resources capacity, by the decision of the Presidium of the Red Crescent Society of Uzbekistan, senior executives and employees of the Society passed certification in 2011. During certification of 15 regional organizations of the Society 215 executive and responsible employees have been certified. 101 employees received some recommendations during the meeting.
In order to improve human resources management, "Strategic plan for human resource management of the Red Crescent Society of Uzbekistan for 2011-2015 years" has been approved.
Initiated by the executive management of the Red Crescent Society of Uzbekistan, 2 national (in Tashkent) and 5 regional (Nukus, Karshi, Samarkand, Ferghana, Tashkent) workshops have been held. The workshops for the employees of the executive board of the Red Crescent Society of Uzbekistan have been held, and training course to improve the financial work of regional organizations has been held for accountants of the Society. More than 400 different employees attended such workshops and training courses.
Humanitarian diplomacy, promotion of cooperation of the Society’s organizations with State and Partnership organizations of the republic
To improve the work efficiency in 2011-2015, the Cooperation Agreement was signed between the Red Crescent Society of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare, the Ministry of Higher Education, the "Mahalla" Fund, the Women's Committee of Uzbekistan, the "Nuroniy" Fund, Ecological Movement of Uzbekistan, "Kamolot" Youth Movement.
Within the framework of humanitarian diplomacy in the period of 2011-2012 years the Chairman of the Red Crescent Society of Uzbekistan, Mr. Kh.Ya.Karimov met with Khokims of all Uzbekistan regions, leaders of the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Emergency Management, the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare, the Ministry of Higher Education, Public Education, etc.
The issues related to the interaction with the local authorities, in particular with Khokimiyats, and to the RCSU’s business support have been discussed during the meeting.
Development of communication work, improving the image of NGO, the information activities of companies of the RCS of Uzbekistan
To inform the public of the republic and the population on the Company's business, the Media Plan of the work with print media agencies and news agencies relating to the coverage of business of the central office, regional offices and partner companies. These plans have been developed by regional companies.
According to the Media Plan, all managers and personnel of regional companies regularly cover the business of the RCSU in the media.
The RCS of Uzbekistan cooperates closely with Mass Media, such as: “Yoshlar”, “Toshkent”, “NTT” central television and “Uzbekistan”, “Poytaht”, “Mash’al” regional TV-radio broadcasting companies, UzIA, newspapers and magazines: “Halk suzi”, “Narodnoe slovo”, “Uzbekiston ovozi”, “Pravda vostoka”, “Temiryulchi”, “Tasvir”, “Mohiyat”, “Zerkalo”, “Turkiston”, “Toshkent okshomi”, “Vecherniy Tashkent, “Domashniy doctor”, “Avtohamroh”, “Ledi” and regional newspapers.
Recently, RCS organized three Republican level contests: the best presentation of the RCS activities in Uzbekistan on TV, radio, newspapers and magazines, the best youth center and a photo contest dedicated to respecting medical workers and Humanity symbols – Red Cross and Red Crescent.
Regional, district and urban, primary organizations of the RCS direct their efforts to successful execution of the main mission of the Society – assistance to Government institutions in providing medical and social aid to the most exposed part of the families, preparing community for various emergency situations, and providing help in case of their occurrence, and other Statutory activities.
