Starting new projects

On February  13, 2015, at the central office of the National Society, the agreement on cooperation between Uzbek Red Crescent Society and ICRC has been signed.

Effective partnership between the RCS of Uzbekistan and the Regional Representation of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Central Asia is becoming stronger every year.

The ICRC assists in strengthening the capacity of the Society, promoting and strengthening the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. Partnerships have been established in such areas as the dissemination of International Humanitarian Law, training and response to emergencies.

So, in particular, the Agreement provides for the implementation of emergency projects for training the population and children in the skills of first aid in mahallas and schools, the purchase of equipment. Traditional field exercises will be organized for the National Disasters Response Team, the training on water sanitation and logistics for emergencies and the replenishment of reserves in case of emergencies.

In the events, the participation of journalists of local media is planned. Within the framework of the Agreement, will be organized a summer camp for volunteer journalists.

Information about the meeting with representatives of UNICEF

On February 14, 2018, a meeting was held at the HQ office of the Red Crescent Society of Uzbekistan (RCSU) between the leadership of the RCSU and UNICEF.

During the meeting, Afshin Parsi, the Deputy Representative of the UNICEF Office in Uzbekistan, delivered the information regarding the work which is conducting in the Republic of Uzbekistan and made a proposal for joint cooperation in the field of preparation and response to emergencies.

In turn, the Chairman of the RCSU - Karimov Kh. shared the information about the RC organization, highlighted the existing potential in the field of trainings for the population of the Republic of Uzbekistan on how to render first aid, as well as introduced official documents that serve as a basis to implement large-scale work in the field of training and response of the population of the Republic of Uzbekistan on emergency situations.

At the end of the meeting it was decided to create a working group consisting of specialists from both organizations with an aim to learn more about the activities of each organization for signing a memorandum of understanding, which will reflect the main directions of joint work and cooperation of the RC of Uzbekistan and UNICEF.
