COMPETITIONS OF ERUDITES
In the “Program on Measures to Implement the State Youth Policy”, signed by the Red Crescent Society of Uzbekistan and the Union of Youth of Uzbekistan, it was envisaged to conduct various activities among students, in particular, the conduct of Club of Cheerful and Sharp – witted – erudite contests.
The main goal of the above – mentioned events is to increase the
spiritual development of youth, to assist in the realization of the
creative and intellectual abilities of students, to educate them in
the spirit of national values and noble ideas, to increase the
participation of young men and women in disseminating knowledge
about the International Movement of the Red Cross and Red Crescent
and the principles of international humanitarian law to young
people, organization of assistance to the population in emergency
situations, their knowledge of the rules of behaviour in such
situations, training their skills in providing humanitarian
assistance to the most vulnerable groups of the population, the
formation of their first – aid skills, broad involvement of student
– youth into the ranks of volunteers.
April 7, 2018 in the big hall of the School of Arts and
Music No. 4 in Fergana, was held the regional stage of the Club of
Cheerful and Sharp – witted show – contest of teams of professional
colleges and academic lyceums of the region.

TEAM – STAFF EXERCISE
In accordance with the main measures for 2018 to protect the population and territories from emergencies on May 10 – 12, 2018, in the territory of the Narin District of the Namangan Region, a team – staff exercise (TSE) was conducted on the topic: “Actions of the management bodies, forces and means of functional and lower territorial subsystems of the State Emergency Management Service for prevention of consequences of natural and man – made emergency situations”.
At the TSE, the disaster response unit of the regional Red Crescent Society of Uzbekistan organization, together with the functional and lower territorial systems of the State Management Emergency Service, checked the level of training of the sanitary squads, the level of their equipping with the necessary means to carry out the tasks assigned to them. In the course of the exercise, warehouses were organized with the supplies of goods necessary in such cases. District ambulance brigades were provided with tents, which, if necessary, would be deployed in the field.
Practical actions of the staff of the Red Crescent Society of Uzbekistan and the members of the disaster response unit (DRU) were agreed during the training sessions. The victims were evacuated to safe places and they received the necessary assistance.
On May 15 – 18, Navbakhor District of Navoi Region was held team – staff exercises (TSE) on the subject: “Actions of forces and assets of the lower territorial subsystems of the State Management Emergency Service for the protection of the population and territories from natural and man – made emergency situations”.
In the course of the exercises, were theoretically and practically worked out the joint actions of the SMES of the districts on notification and collection of management bodies, heads of services and economic objects, gathering information about the situation in the areas of destruction, summarizing, assessing the situation, mutual informing and decision – making by the head of civil protection of the region, as well as the actions of the units of the SMES for the liquidation of the consequences of emergency situations, the organization of life support for the affected population in the disaster zone.
More than 100 employees and volunteers, 20 rescuers from all district organizations and the DRU, established on the basis of the Navoi Mining Institute.
According to the plan of the exercises in the villages of Ijand and Navruz MPS Kizil Ravot of the Navbakhor District, a state of emergency occurred due to a mudflow, where 25 families were badly affected. 10 voluntary rescuers and workers of the Navbakhor district department of the Red Crescent Society of Uzbekistan helped the affected families. From the stores of the district warehouse, 5 families were given necessary necessities in the amount of 650 thousand sums.

REGIONAL STAGES OF COMPETITIONS “YOUNG FRIENDS OF HEALTH”
On May 4, 2018 in the park of culture and recreation “Somoniy” in Bukhara city, the regional stage of the competition “Young Friends of Health” was organized, where the winners of the district stages of the contest in seven directions competed – both in terms of theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
Teams competed in two groups – a group of teams of schoolchildren and a group of teams of lyceums and colleges. The first place in the school group was taken by the school No. 1 in Bukhara District, the 2nd place by school No. 21 of the Kagan District, the third place by the school No. 5 of the Korovulbazar District. In the group of lyceums and colleges, the first place was awarded to the team of the Academic Lyceum at the Bukhara Medical Institute, the 2nd place to the Afshona Medical College in Peshkun District, and the third place to the Gijduvan Agro – Industrial College.
When exhibiting evaluation teams, partner organizations actively participated. In this way, the employees of the regional Department of Emergency Service have evaluated the first stage of the contest, the employees of the regional organization of the Red Crescent Society of Uzbekistan – the second stage, the specialists of the regional health department 3 – 6 stages, and the employees of the department of internal affairs – the 7th stage of the competition.
In accordance with the Provisions on the conduct of competitions, were checked the knowledge and skills of the members of the school teams of the “Mercy Groups” to provide first – aid in case of natural and man – made emergency situations, in various accidents and during the spread of epidemics. In addition, participants demonstrated their knowledge of the rules of sanitation and hygiene. As a result, were determined the winners of the "Mercy groups" at the regional level.
According to the results of the competitions, the team of the secondary school No. 11 of the Besharik District took the 1st place, the team of the 2nd place- school No. 30 in Margilan and the 3rd place the team of the specialized school No. 62 of the Kuva District took the second place. In addition, prizes were awarded in several nominations, for example, the school ¹ 18 of Furkat District became the winner in the nomination “For the most dexterous and rapid provision of medical care”, the team of the specialized school No. 1 of Kuvasay in the nomination “The most knowledgeable and skilful participant” and the team of the school No. 3 of the Fergana District became the winner in the nomination “The most exemplary dress code”.

“FIND YOUR PLACE IN OUR RANGE”
The Red Crescent Society of Uzbekistan and its Tashkent City Organization organized an event on May 12, 2018 at the National Academic Drama Theatre under the motto “Find Your Place in Our Ranges” dedicated to the 155th anniversary of the International Movement of the Red Cross and Red Crescent.
In the foyer of the theatre, information exhibitions on the activities of the Red Crescent Society of Uzbekistan Training Centre and the medical and social centre “Mehrigiyo” of the Uchtepa regional branch of the Tashkent city organization of Red Crescent Society of Uzbekistan for organizing leisure for children with disabilities were presented to the attention of the guests.
The festive mood of the audience was raised by the performance of famous artists. A peculiar spirit was created during the theatrical performances of members of student teams – “Adrenalin” of the Tashkent Medical Academy, “Leader” of the Tashkent State Institute of Dentistry, and “Oriental” of the Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies, “Young” of the Uzbek State Institute of Arts and Culture and “TEXNO STAR” of the Tashkent State Technical University. It will be gratifying to note that the primary organizations of the Red Crescent Society are operating at these Higher Educational Institutions.
In the event participated the representatives of the Women's Committee of Tashkent city, Ministries of Higher and Secondary Special Education, Health, International Committee of Red Cross of the Regional Representation in Central Asia, other partner organizations, employees, volunteers and veterans of the Society.
At the end of the event, representatives of the primary organizations of the Red Crescent Society of Uzbekistan of Higher Education Institutions who took part in it, to the members of the Club of cheerful and sharp – witted teams, as well as to the winners of the city sanitary posts competition – the teams of the School No. 19 of Shaykhantakhur District and the Polytechnic and Standardization College of Almazar District were presented with Certificates of Honour and souvenirs of the Red Crescent Society of Uzbekistan.

In Bishkek from April 28 to 30, 2018, was held the 23rd European Youth Meeting of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, at which took part the delegation of the Red Crescent Society of Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, youth leaders of the Movement discussed the main directions of involving young people in solving humanitarian problems. In addition, were held the elections to the European Committee for the Coordination of Youth in the European Region of the International Financial organization of the Red Cross and Red Crescent for the years 2018 – 2020. The representative of the youth movement of the Red Cross Society of Bulgaria was elected a chairperson of the committee. The meeting also updated the document that defines the powers of the European Youth Network of the Red Cross and Red Crescent society.
At the end of the event, the declaration of the youth meeting was adopted, which includes the main areas of work for youth and volunteers in humanitarian matters, namely, the active involvement of youth and volunteers in resource mobilization, emergency response and training, humanitarian assistance and social projects .
On May 2 – 5, 2018, the 10th European Regional Conference of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies was held in Almaty. The delegation of the Red Crescent Society of Uzbekistan took part in its work along with representatives of 53 National Societies.
At the conference were discussed the problem of “Expanding the individual and collective impact of national societies in Europe in building resilience, providing humanitarian assistance and social support at the regional, national and local levels”.
At the conference, the chairperson of the Red Crescent Society of Uzbekistan, Kh. Ya. Karimov, led a seminar on labour migration, during which were identified the main efforts of the national Societies of the European and Central Asian regions to work with labour migrants.
During the conference, the delegation of the Red Crescent Society of Uzbekistan highlighted the main priority issues regarding the sustainability of the National Society in the context of “Strengthening the system of resource mobilization at the local level”. At the seminar, devoted to this topic, the chairperson of the Red Crescent Society of Uzbekistan shared the experience of our model of development in resource mobilization of Red Crescent Society of Uzbekistan.
The conference adopted a document – Almaty commitments defining the main directions of humanitarian activities for the next four years in the European and Central Asian regions.

REPUBLICAN STAGE OF COMPETITIONS
On May 2 – 3, 2018 in the Palace of Arts named after I. Karimov in Fergana was held the republican stage of the competitions of “Young Saviour” among pupils of the schools. In accordance with the Provisions, competed the teams of students from 12 regions and the Republic of Karakalpakstan, consisting of eight members in each team.
The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Fergana regional organization of the Red Crescent Society of Uzbekistan, regional emergency departments, health ministry, secondary special and vocational education, public education, culture and fire safety department. During two days, the teams showed not only their creative works and theoretical knowledge, but also competed in the relay race, the passage of a water obstacle through the ropes, setting up a tent, rendering first – aid to the injured people, passing through obstacles in the fire etc.
As a result, at competitions the 1st place was taken by the team of the specialized school No. 1 in Kuvasay, of the Fergana Region, 2nd place – by the team from Navoi region and the 3rd place by the team of the Republic of Karakalpakstan.
The competition was awarded to several categories. In this way, in the nomination of “The best medical practice”, the winner was the team of the Samarkand region, in the nomination of “The most knowledgeable” the winner was the team of the Syrdarya region, in the nomination of “The most amicable team” the winner was the team of the Djizzakh region. In the nomination of “The youngest saviour” was a student from the Namangan region and in the nomination of “The youngest saviour” became a student from the team of the Fergana region.
At the competition, participated 154 participants with their mentors and 12 judges evaluated the actions of the competitors according to the terms of the competition.

TRAINING SEMINARS ON FIRST – AID
Within the “First Aid” segment of the “Preparedness and Response program on Emergency Situations”, with the full support of the International Committee of Red Cross of Regional Office in Central Asia, in the Regional Training and Methodological Centre of Red Crescent Society of Uzbekistan from 2 to 6 April 2018 regional organizations was held a training seminar on First Aid (FA) for staff and volunteers.
International experts with extensive international and practical experience took part in its work: A.Nechay, the International Committee of Red Cross delegate on the development of the first and pre – hospital assistance of the ICRC Regional Delegation for the Russian Federation, the Republic of Belarus and Moldova, E.Rusinovich – the chairman of the Grodno city organization of the Belarusian Red Crescent Society, international master – trainer for first – aid.
During the training, were considered the topics such as “Improving the qualification for the basic course and the course for instructors”, “The process of pedagogical formation”, “Organization of training”, “Basic methods and forms of work”, “Master classes in first aid, practical training of master classes”, etc.
As a result of the meeting, international experts made appropriate recommendations on the development of training the population in the skills of first aid.
On the basis of the order of the Head of the HRP – regional governor of the Andijan region dated May 20, 2016 “On measures to organize out – of – pocket sanitary formations of FA in organizations, offices, institutions of the Andijan region and conducting special training courses with their personnel on their training”, as well as, in the region, training exercises are conducted on “Basics of first aid” for the purpose of training employees of various organizations.
Successfully goes the program of training of teachers of the organizations of average special, vocational training. Based on the order of the head of the territorial department of secondary special, vocational education in April – May this year 31 training courses for professional colleges were organized and 427 people were trained in the basics of FA on a contract basis. Funds from the organization of these classes were more than 17 million sums.
CONGRATULATIONS WITH NAVRUZ
Holiday Navruz came to our country – the Spring Festival of renovation and beauty. From ancient times, this holiday was celebrated in many countries of the world, including in Uzbekistan. In the days of Navruz seeds of future abundance are sown, trees and flowers are planted, people forget old grievances and congratulate each other, with special attention being paid to children and the elderly. Our Society, acting in unison with such century – old values of Navruz and celebrating its 93rd anniversary this year, welcomes this holiday with the strengthening of its ranks and the wide involvement of representatives of the younger generation in its activities.
In the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on “Strategy of actions on five priority directions of the development of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2017 – 2021”, a lot of attention is paid to issues of social protection of the population. The Red Crescent Society of Uzbekistan will make every effort to fulfil the tasks indicated in this document. Undoubtedly, the strengthening and expansion of our cooperation with the Union of Youth of Uzbekistan, the Ministries of Health, Public Education, Higher and Secondary Special Education, Emergencies departments , the Women's Committee, the Nuroniy and Mahalla Funds will largely ensure the success of humanitarian activities. At the same time, it is of special importance that social projects prepared by many regional organizations and departments of the Company received grants from the Public Fund for Supporting NGOs and Other Civil Society Institutions under the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Their content successfully harmonizes with the basic idea of 2018 – “Year of supporting active entrepreneurship, innovative ideas and technologies”. On this blessed day, wish everyone peace, prosperous well – being, prosperity and happiness, as well as success in achieving the set high goals.

Starting new projects
On February 13, 2015, at the central office of the National Society, the agreement on cooperation between Uzbek Red Crescent Society and ICRC has been signed.
The ICRC assists in strengthening the capacity of the Society, promoting and strengthening the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. Partnerships have been established in such areas as the dissemination of International Humanitarian Law, training and response to emergencies.
So, in particular, the Agreement provides for the implementation of
emergency projects for training the population and children in the
skills of first aid in mahallas and schools, the purchase of
equipment. Traditional field exercises will be organized for the
National Disasters Response Team, the training on water sanitation
and logistics for emergencies and the replenishment of reserves in
case of emergencies.
In the events, the participation of journalists of local media is
planned. Within the framework of the Agreement, will be organized a
summer camp for volunteer journalists.

Information about the meeting with representatives of UNICEF
On February 14, 2018, a meeting was held at the HQ office of the Red Crescent Society of Uzbekistan (RCSU) between the leadership of the RCSU and UNICEF.
During the meeting, Afshin Parsi, the Deputy Representative of the UNICEF Office in Uzbekistan, delivered the information regarding the work which is conducting in the Republic of Uzbekistan and made a proposal for joint cooperation in the field of preparation and response to emergencies.
In turn, the Chairman of the RCSU - Karimov Kh. shared the information about the RC organization, highlighted the existing potential in the field of trainings for the population of the Republic of Uzbekistan on how to render first aid, as well as introduced official documents that serve as a basis to implement large-scale work in the field of training and response of the population of the Republic of Uzbekistan on emergency situations.
At the end of the meeting it was decided to create a working group
consisting of specialists from both organizations with an aim to
learn more about the activities of each organization for signing a
memorandum of understanding, which will reflect the main directions
of joint work and cooperation of the RC of Uzbekistan and UNICEF.
